Hiatus
A month of inactivity on this blog, with all the usual too-too-busy excuses (sorry). I've been pondering whether to wrap things up here, or whether to press on, perfectly well aware, of course, that this is a question of interest to nobody but myself. On balance, I think I'll push on for a bit, at least through to Christmas, and see if anything worthwhile emerges. To kick off: I've been reading the Booker shortlist; and now that the winner has been announced my ruminations will be even more profitably untimely: this coming week will see a start of that. But I am conscious that Kenneth Williams' famous last words hang, spectrally, over this punkish diddling, as over most blogs still operational in this year of our bored, 2010.

Oh no! Please don't go!
I really enjoy your posts here and hope they're not done.
If you read blogs via an aggregator or feed reader (and don't most people, these days?), then it doesn't matter if a blog doesn't get updated for months or even years on end: you're not wasting time checking it for updates. Then when the next post pops up, you read it.
So don't worry about schedule, just post when you've got something to say.
I'll second (fourth?) everybody above, especially re feed readers. Even if you just use this site to post links to things you've written elsewhere, it's helpful for those of us who will (okay, I'll admit it) read anything with your byline on it. (Well, for now. Until you start daily posting pictures of paint drying on walls. But even that could have potential...)
Yep. Keep the blog, and post only when you happen to feel like it. I am one of the many who will have his attention drawn to new posts by a feed-reader, however intermittent they may be.
I like to read this blog too.
Do keep posting.
I enjoy the writing here also. I have nothing more to add.
This is one of roughly 10 author's sites that I regularly check and enjoy; I'd miss your reviews and criticisms.
Please don't quit!
We will be patient in the knowledge that your edifying erudition has not abandoned us :)
Thank you, everybody! I'm heartened, not to say touched, by your kinds words. I shall press on.
let me add to the chorus. i'm a silent fan... but a fan nonetheless... keep up the blogging, roberts!
Thanks, J.
I too vote for more content, whenever it may be provided.
And since I'm commenting, I'll also mention that as a bookseller across the Atlantic from you, I'm flabbergasted that you don't seem to have a proper US publisher.
Oh no, you have to stay here and continue to make witty comments for the benefit of a worldwide audience. Though I am a little concerned that the timestamps on your postings are consistently 12:30 at night.
springer: you and me both, sir. Or madam, depending.
David: yes, well, we have to fit blogging in around other commitments (family, work, writing), don't we.
